Organic Coatings.

Dip Spin, Dip Drain (2007) or spray technology, providing excellent salt spray resistance for relatively small coating thickness.

Delta Tone and Delta Protekt are a mixture of zinc flakes held in a suspension of organic binders and solvents. The applied and cured coating forms a 97% Zinc-rich structure of laminated Zinc flakes. The resultant silver coating of 10-12μm gives a performance in excess of 500 hours Salt Spray resistance to ASTM B 117. Coating uniformity and repeatable torque characteristics make this an ideal corrosion protection system for threaded fasteners and spring fasteners alike and do not give rise to hydrogen embrittlement.

Applications.

Dip Spin.

This method is ideal for small components such as fasteners, spring clips etc. and involves the component being loaded into a centrifuge basket to a pre-determined weight and spun/tilted/spun at predetermined speeds and times to achieve uniform coverage of the component. Processed work is cured 180°C for 15-20 minutes. The process is then repeated to produce a double layer of material of 8-10μm. This can be repeated to produce heavier deposits which also increases salt spray resistance accordingly.

Spray.

After pre-treatment, the components are assembled onto jigs for spraying. Only one application is necessary to build up a coating of 8-10μm all over the component, which is cured at 190-210°C for 15-20minutes.

Dip Drain.

All items and pre-treated assembled onto jigs and then transported through the dip drain equipment. Allowing larger items to be evenly coated with varying thickness.

Additional Treatments

To enhance the properties of this process, it is possible to combine other coatings such as Delta Seal or Dorrltech B18 which increases Salt Spray resistance and/or colour to the Delta Tone system.
